UTSU Meet Your Exec 2011

Position: 2011-2012 President
Email Address: president@utsu.ca
Phone Number: 416-978-4911 ext. 223
Hello and welcome (back) to UofT! If someone had told me in my first year that I - a commuter student working to pay for school and taking a full courseload - would someday be President of our Students’ Union, I would never have believed them. Getting involved in our Union has changed my university experience. As students working together we can build a community and make a difference in the challenges that face us. I hope that each of you will have a chance to get involved and be an active part of the student movement too. It’s an honour for me to be your president this year and I wish you all well. Here’s to an amazing year ahead!

Hi there! My name is Corey and I’m proud to be your VP Internal & Services. Over the years students united at UofT and across the country have fought for many cost-saving services on campus, provincially, and nationally. Here at U.T.S.U. we want to save you money and continue to fight for the resources you need. Make sure you learn the details of our affordable and vast Health & Dental Plan, come pick up your free International Student Identification Card, and don’t forget the Post-Secondary Student Metropass that students have fought for and continue to defend. Make sure to check out all of our great services and don’t hesitate to contact me if you have ideas for new services that U.T.S.U. can offer.
If you have any questions or inquiries regarding the finances of the Students' Union, please feel free to contact me.
In solidarity,

Hey there! My name is Clara and I am delighted to serve as your VP University Affairs. At UofT, we are here not only to receive a quality education, but to enrich our personal experiences by getting involved outside of the classroom. This year I am dedicated to working with you to advocate on your behalf, and to ensure that our education is accessible and affordable. By working together across colleges, professional faculties, course unions and student groups, we can increase student representation and build strong working relationships with the University administration to ensure that our needs are met. It takes all of us to make our university experience the very best it can possibly be. Come get involved with your Students’ Union and have your voice heard!
Cheers,

Hello! I’m Lena, your VP Equity. Welcome to a new year at UofT! Addressing oppression and inequality is an important component of our collective struggle for accessible post-secondary education. We have an incredibly diverse membership and I invite you to join with me to strive for justice and accessibility by taking a stand against racism, sexism, and all forms of discrimination. If you have an issue that’s affecting you, then you are not alone. I am here to unite all students in our common struggle for an equitable society.

Position: 2011-2012 Vice President External
Email Address: vpexternal@utsu.ca
Phone Number: 416-978-4911 ext. 233
To all the new students, welcome to UofT! And to all current students, I’d like to welcome you back for another amazing year. I hope you take the time to read through this handbook and familiarize yourself with YOUR Students’ Union. After all, we are committed to working tirelessly to ensure that your interests are understood by decision-makers off-campus. As your VP External, I will ensure that your voice is heard at the municipal, provincial and federal levels of government. With a provincial election in October, our collective student voice needs to be strongly unified on issues of rising tuition fees, public underfunding of post-secondary institutions and OSAP reform. United we can take action and let Queen’s Park know that we are not apathetic students but engaged voters.
In Solidarity,
Shaun
