University of Toronto Students Union Digital Archive

The University of Toronto Students’ Union was founded in 1901 and has since acted as a central student government for undergraduate students at the University of Toronto. Students, and student governments, have a unique view into our university, our city, our province, and our country. The UTSU has recorded its 100-year history by keeping an active archive of the documents it has used in its operations. These documents, including past UTSU meeting minutes, TTC press releases, city plans, university governing documents, and more, have been kept in a locked archives room in the UTSU’s basement.

For the past year, the UTSU has stressed how important it is that student societies operate in an open and accessible manner. We’ve begun the process of organizing and digitizing the UTSU archives. On April 23rd 2018, we’ll be launching the Archives, a publicly accessible, digital catalogue of files the UTSU has collected over the past 100 years. We’re throwing open the door to the archives room. Everything that can be made public, will be made public.
