The UTSU will be switching our insurer from Desjardins to Green Shield Canada. With this switch, all benefits and services offered under our Health & Dental Plan will be kept exactly the same – the only change for students will be our policy number!

Furthermore, with our switch to Green Shield, starting on September 1, 2021, students enrolled in the UTSU’s Health and Dental plan will have access to a new telemedicine service. Provided by Dialogue, this unlimited, virtual health service is available 24/7, and will connect students to licensed health experts including doctors, nurses and more. Students can access this service via video, a chat function or through the phone.

Along with this new virtual service, students will continue to have access to Empower Me, a program that provides mental health resources to students, and connects them with counsellors, psychologists and other health professionals for specialized support. Empower Me is also available 24/7/365 via phone, video or in-person.

For students with claims during the CURRENT policy year (September 1 2020 to August 31, 2021), please submit claims to Desjardins Insurance by November 29, 2021.

For services provided on or after September 1, 2021, claims will be submitted to Green Shield Canada. More details are available at studentcare.ca.
